Our Work
Our volunteers make possible the following activities in support of the
MJWA mission:

Environmental Stewardship
• Protection of areas of ecological and scenic value through a land trust program involving the establishment and maintenance of easements and preserves.
• Wildlife habitat monitoring and management projects.
• Water quality monitoring and remediation on the lakes, ponds, river, streams, and wetlands environments within our watershed.

Educational programming aimed at increasing understanding and appreciation of the natural environment and the land- and water-based practices that promote sustainable use. Our educational efforts take place in schools, and at public seminars and interpretive walks.
MJWA also facilitates communication and technical transfer for of the pond owners in our watershed to network and share information regarding pond-specific interests and concerns.

MJWA volunteers conduct courtesy boat inspections each summer to help prevent the introduction of invasive aquatic plants to our watershed.

Restoration Projects
• MJWA conducts a wide variety of environmental restoration projects.  A particular area of interest is stream restoration to correct streambank erosion problems, debris removal, etc.  Other projects include wetlands restoration, invasive/exotic plant removal and treatment, and grasslands restoration.
